A Garrett GT2860R automotive turbocharger was coupled to a hydrogen-fueled pulsed detonation combustor to demonstrate the advantages of a low-entropy, pressure-gain combustion driven turbine. Research was conducted in the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Detonation Engine Research Facility. This image was taken during an 81 minute continuous run, in which the peak turbine housing temperature reached 1,014 deg F.
